Rites of Freemasonry
Rites are complete systems of Masonic initiation and education. The higher degrees are not indicative of rank or status among Masons. All degrees beyond that of Master Mason are a matter of continuing Masonic education and are open to all Master Masons.
Each Rite attempts to aid in the process of self-actualization in different and unique ways. Improvement of the individual is achieved through a better understanding of who we are and our place in the cosmos.
The Rites also impart the key principles of Moral and Civic Virtue. True Freemasons are people who apply these principles in their everyday lives.
The Lodges of the Grand Orient USA work many different Rites. To learn more about the Rites of Freemasonry visit Freemasonry 101.
